Players chose between two "worlds", one ruled by Evil Eyes (light grey), and one ruled by Eyes of Truth (black). As the title suggests, it is a continuation of the Naruto storyline.
Character design
The characters are similar to those of Little Fighter 2. The player can change their clothes and the hair color of their characters. Each game has four playable characters: The red-haired Sasuke Uchiha, the yellow-haired Gaara, the white-haired Naruto Uzumaki and the green-haired Sakura Haruno. The first and fourth characters are male, while the second and third characters are female.
Story
In the far future, peace will no longer reign on the world, instead it will be dominated by the evil Eye clans. Sasuke Uchiha, a young boy who is also known as The Red Haired Ninja, was sealed away by the Eye clans as a child to protect him from the dark power he possesses. Gaara and Naruto, the members of the White and Black eyes respectively, face a choice that could change the fate of the universe.
Development
The developer of NTSD, Kid Icarus, stated that Little Fighter 2 was a major influence on the creation of NTSD. On August 4, 2008, Kid Icarus released Little Fighter 3 as the first video game in the series, which is also set in the same universe as NTSD.
Reception
The game was praised for its gameplay and presentation, while criticism was aimed at the lack of background story. IGN's Daemon Hatfield wrote that "[The title is] a pretty good-looking, good-feeling fighter that is surprisingly deep." GameSpot's Jeff Marchiafava wrote that "Naruto is just so cute and cuddly and adorable that it's hard to stay mad at him," while calling Sasuke the game's "true contender."
